Strategy : Avoid Similar Sound
Let me introduce myself. My name is St.Masita Nur Khalifah. I’am a student in Business English Communication at Universitas Negeri Makassar.
Today we study Listening 4 Academic Purpose as usual. Today we learned about a strategy in Listening, namely Avoid Similar Sound.
Similar Sound are words that have the same sound but have different meanings. It is very important to be able to understand and know the word that is actually meant when doing a problem because words with the same sound often make us end up choosing the wrong answer.
We did about 10 practice questions for the Similar Sound skill. I can quite understand about this skill, and I know that the key to being able to answer correctly for this skill is understanding the questions or the text being heard.
Here is an example of Similar Sound
1. Pair = Pears
2. Won = One
3. See = Sea
4. Ant = Aunt
5. Hair = Hare
