Strategy : Negative Expression

Let me introduce myself. My name is St.Masita Nur Khalifah. I’am a student in Business English Communication at Universitas Negeri Makassar.

Today we study Listening 4 Academic Purpose as usual. Today we learned about strategies in Listening, namely Negative Expression.

Negative Expression are words in a sentence that express negative expressions.

Example :

1. Not sad = Happy

There are two strategies that can be applied when answering questions with Negative Expression, namely

1. If the question expresses a Positive Expression then the answer to the question is in the form of a Negative Expression.

2. If the question expresses a Negative Expression, then the answer to the question is in the form of a Positive Expression.

Example :

(-) It  wasn't very quiet there

(+) It was noisy
