Reporting Sources

Hi! I’m St. Masita Nur Khalifah, a Business English Communication student, batch 2022. In my English for Journalism class, I learned how journalists use background information and initials to report sources responsibly.

1. Background Information: Journalists provide brief details about a source’s role or expertise (e.g., "a government official") to establish their credibility without revealing too much personal information.

2. Using Initials: When protecting a source's identity, journalists use initials (e.g., J.D. for John Doe) instead of full names, especially in sensitive situations.

This approach ensures both transparency and confidentiality, helping journalists maintain ethical standards in their reporting.
